Emotional eating is often characterized as a behavior performed by lonely housewives or singletons in search of a source of comfort or companionship from their pint of Ben & Jerry’s. But emotional eating can happen when people are feeling happy, stressed, bored, angry or any other kind of emotion too.
In this week’s episode we answer questions about intuitive eating.
Here is the original question sent to us from Abby.
Jerry’s transformation is particularly special to me because we have known each other for over 20 years now. We met freshmen year of college playing Rugby together and then pledged the same fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon. We were great friends sharing a bond over partying hard, watching wrestling, and hitting the weight room. For me, the partying ended upon graduation in 2000, but for Jerry it kept going. Ultimately in 2017 he checked into rehab (not his first time) for the last time. When I saw him at our seminar he could barely walk up a flight of stairs. Recently he trained for and finished a 5k run! This is Jerry’s story of how he lost 100 lbs. with Own Your Eating.
We will be talking all week about expectations and how you can best manage them and we get it, you’re here because you want results, we all do, that’s life. We want what we want and we want it now!
Unfortunately, the scale doesn’t care about when you want your expecations to be met. The scale is a fickle beast. So why do we put so much stock in it?
The chances are that at some point in your life, you’ve tried to cut out carbs. Carbs have gotten this evil reputation and for some reason when we think of losing weight, we associate that with eating less carbohydrates. But just like you tried to ignore your younger sibling at high school, giving carbs the shake is nearly impossible!
Sometimes in life you can feel like you’re just chugging along. The expression “same sh*t different day” springs to mind! It’s easy to feel the same way with your nutrition when your weight loss graph stops resembling a ski-slope and looks more like a cross-country course. Don’t forget, this is a marathon though and not a sprint! So it’s important you’re able to recognize shifts in your mindset and take appropriate action. Can you reframe and find another perspective? Can you find a reason to be cheerful?
Whether you’re new to the concept of macros or have been a flexible dieter for quite some time, we still often get the question “should I be eating ‘clean’?”
Many of you might still be skeptical, wondering “how can donuts help me lose weight? That’s impossible!”
This is the question we get asked most often, we get it, our plan seems too good to be true. But, it’s not. Yes, yes, yes, you can eat anything you want, but you can’t eat everything you want. In short that means moderation. Want to enjoy some pizza? Do it! Just keep in mind you might not be able to eat an entire pizza – unless of course it fits your macros!
