, adding 50# to her back squat and PR-ing on a ultrathon by 5 hours, this girl does not cease to amaze! Read on about her experience with following our flexible eating prescription at Own Your Eating.
When did you start Flexible Eating?
I started Flexible Eating in October 2015.
What prompted you to get started?
I heard about it from one of the coaches at our CF gym. Keith was already working with Jason, and after I started seeing it work for me, I went directly to the source.
What changes have you noticed in your body?
My weight has fluctuated up and down (currently down 7lbs from when I started), but it has helped me maintain a 50# weight loss from a few years before that. My body fat has dropped over 10% since Flexible Eating, and I’ve added over 10# of lean muscle. During that time, I’ve added 50# to my back squat, 100# to my deadlift, and PR’d all of my running distances, including a 5hr PR on my 100mi time.
What has been your biggest obstacle that you have overcome or are working on?
The biggest challenge for me in the beginning was eating enough protein. I had been eating a vegan diet for 2 years prior, and there were lots of nights where my dinner was nearly all protein. Once I started planning out my day, that got easier.
What’s one piece of advice you would give someone that is just getting started?
My advice for beginners? Just like most things in life…take one day at a time. It doesn’t matter what you ate yesterday, or how “good” you’re going to be tomorrow. Just worry about today. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to do it.
