Transformation Tuesday – Ashley Drake

Action speaks louder than words and Ashely Drake is all about action as her transformation clearly demonstrates! We caught up with Ashley during our seminar tour trip to Louisville and asked her to share a few words about her success with flexible eating, as she approaches her one year anniversary of tracking. Read on to find out how Ashley; wife, mother and successful business owner, has not only transformed her body but has become a confident and inspiring role model for so many friends, family and Tribe members.
Congratulations Ashley! We are super proud coaches and friends!
When did you start Flexible Eating?
I started on September 21st
2016 exactly 301 days ago (but who is counting)
What prompted you to get started?
I self admittedly spend way to much time on Social media, Instagram to be exact, and I wanted to look like all of the games athletes that I saw day after day in my feed. I have been doing CrossFit for six years and have never obtained the body composition that
I wanted. I saw more and more about Macros and then I saw this crazy long haired guy saying I could eat ANYTHING I wanted and get the body I wanted so I took the plunge. Considering my love for mac & cheese I figured what do I have to lose, this might just be the magic answer I have been looking
for.
What changes have you noticed in your body?
To date I have lost 28lbs, Going from 153 to 125. I have improved in ALL of my CrossFit lifts, benchmark workouts, and overall fitness level. I have more energy than I have ever had, I feel better fueled than I ever had, my blood work and medical test are all in
the perfect ranges. The “Holy Shit what happened to you” that I constantly get from people I haven’t seen in a while pretty much sums up the changes I have noticed. From abs, better arms, a leaner body, it is like I am a new person.
What has been your biggest obstacle that you have overcome or are
working on?
When I first started with Own Your Eating hitting my protein was my biggest obstacle. I was able to overcome that issue with a homemade protein shake for breakfast that was packed with 50g of protein. Now that I have been doing this for over 300 days, and I have started
reversing, my biggest obstacle is staying focused on identifying progress and continued success in something other than the weight on the scale.
When you start with any program it seems like a mad dash to reach your goal weight, or at least that is how it was for me. The thing that is different this go around, is that I was actually successful with achieving my goal weight. That is something that had NEVER happened, so it was hard for me to know what to use as motivation once I had achieved that. Lucky for me I picked a fitness passion in CrossFit, that has a continuous list of things that I can get better at. So I have started focusing on those goals and achieving them, still using my Own Your Eating nutrition as a
foundation that I can build upon and use to help me reach those new goals.
What’s one piece of advice you would give someone that is just
getting started?
Believe that you can have the body, performance, and goal weight that you desire. It won’t happen over night and it will take effort and time, but you have to believe that you can have what you want, because once you do that then you will put in the effort to make it happen. SOOOO many of us just give up on ourselves, and now looking back it is clear that I had done that for at least 5 years and it was just unnecessary wasted time. Where was that long haired crazy guy back then?! 😉
I am so thankful to Own Your Eating, Jason & Roz, and the Tribe. Everyone in this community has played a part in my success and with words alone I can not express gratitude enough. I feel like a completely new person with opportunities available to me that I have never had available to me before and I could not be more excited about this new lease on life that I have been given through this whole process. Truly, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
Happy Macroversary Ashley! Say cheese! 🙂
