Transformation Tuesday – Justin Drake
Congratulations to Justin for his incredible transformation and weight loss to date! Read on to find out about his success path with Own Your Eating and flexible dieting.
When did you start Flexible Eating?
I started Flexible Eating 272 days ago.
What prompted you to get started?
My wife said we were going to do this thing where we could eat what we wanted and lose weight. I didn’t want to because we had tried and failed at pretty much every other diet/nutritional plan, but she is very persuasive. Best decision she ever made for me, besides marrying me.
What changes have you noticed in your body?
Well…34lbs lost. Went from 36 inch waist to 32 inch. Went from XL shirts to large and mediums. Overall reduction in body fat. I used to have low back pain, that is gone. I have a bad knee, that pain has reduced significantly. Unfortunately, we did not take body measurements when we started. So if you are starting, TAKE MEASUREMENTS!! It is just one more data point to help you stay on track. I say that because there have been stretches where I haven’t lost much weight, but I feel like I have lost inches and it would have been psychologically helpful to know just how many inches. Knowing that even though I wasn’t making progress on the scale, but I was still improving would have helped stay consistent.
What has been your biggest obstacle that you have overcame or are working on?
Staying consistent. I LOVE FOOD!! So, there have been times that I have just said screw it and ate whatever I wanted. Well that delays progress. I have been sitting on triple 0s and I’m up late finishing the day’s tasks, got that hunger bug and just completely went off the rails. I mean it is not rocket science.
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone that is just getting started?
Give it a month. Really stick to getting as close to triple 0s as you can for 1 month. You do that, and the rest is down hill. You will look back 272 days later and wonder how you ever survived before. Over the weekend, a lot of old Father’s day pics have been coming up on my social media feeds and I look at them in horror. I DO NOT EVER want to look like that again. I LOVE the current ME. I say current because, I will continue to progress.
