Ginnie’s Transformation Interview
When did you start Flexible Eating & how did you get started?
I started on October 29th, 2018. I bought the 3-monthessential coaching package.
What prompted you to get started?
I was doing a much stricter program for about a year and it worked, but I had to pretty much be spot on with the foods all of the time. I didn’t want to keep making myself something different for dinner every night than I would for my husband and 3 kids. I wanted to go out and have a slice of pizza with my kids or a donut at the cider mill and not feel guilty. I do not want them growing up with horrible ideas of dieting and body image. I don’t want them to think they can’t have pizza or donuts when they grow up. But, I also needed some limitations on myself.
My prior program was too strict and when I wasn’t doing it I was eating whatever I wanted. The weight was slowly creeping on, I was unhappy with the way my body felt and how I was feeling in my workouts. Every day I would try to start over the next day or Monday but it just wasn’t working for me anymore and I needed something else.
That’s when I stumbled upon one of my favorite fitness athletes to follow Jen Charlesworth and she was posting about Own Your Eating so I started doing research.
I was pretty excited to get started and have been loving it. As a former MyFitnessPal user this whole thing has been pretty amazing for me. I have learned that planning ahead is the easiest way to hit my macros and still be able to eat some of the things that I want. I know this time of year is probably THE MOST INSANE time to do a new eating plan but what better way to try out the flexible eating than right now?
I knew if I kept going on the path I was on I could easily add another 10 lbs and really dig a hole I would be digging out of for 6 months or more. I knew I needed to gain control STAT.
How much weight have you lost?
What other changes have you noticed in your body or in general?
My clothes are fitting amazing and I bought some new jeans and WOW!!! 1.5% body fat and inches all over including waist and hips and it’s only been 7 weeks. I don’t have my beginning measurements but my waist is 27.5 inches and 30.5 inches on my hips.
What has been your biggest obstacle that you have overcome or are working on?
My biggest obstacle that I am overcoming is being in control and being aware. Logging really, really helps with that.
What’s the one thing you previously would have deprived yourself of on a diet that you now get to enjoy guilt-free?
Pizza, donuts, a Christmas cookie, and a scone. Really anything that I can make fit into my day and still hit my macros. This has been so eye-opening. I have had 4 Christmas parties a week since the first week of December but I am planning ahead and still losing without feeling deprived and I haven’t been bringing my own foods either.
What’s one piece of advice you would give someone that is just getting started?
Anyone can do this and make it work, still, enjoy the foods they love and enjoying traditions with your family and kids without the guilt. If someone would have told me I could get through the holiday season losing 10 lbs I would have said there is NO WAY!!!I also would say having that coach accountability is one of the most helpful things for me.Knowing I am going to send my numbers at the end of the week to someone has helped me extra keep it in check at weak moments. And she has been totally encouraging and amazing.
