Healthy Transformation – Jess Philpot

Healthy Transformation – Jess Philpot

Nothing is more important to us than helping our clients lead a healthy lifestyle. Sure we get excited by body composition change and dramatic weight loss transformations, or when clients see their abs for the first time, but helping people improve the quality of their lives and feel healthy again is the most rewarding aspect of the work we do. Jessica Philpot’s overeating and excess weight was exacerbating the symptoms of her Multiple Sclerosis and causing other hormonal imbalances. When we met her she could barely walk! Now she is running & swimming and almost entirely symptom free from MS. Find out how following our program has completely changed her life…

“I used to lay in bed and long to play outside with my kids. Now I can!”

When did you start Flexible Eating and making the decision to be healthy? How did you get started?

I attended a seminar and bought the book when Jason & Roz were on tour and came to Louisville in July of 2017.

What prompted you to get started?

I had tried diet after diet. I have Multiple Sclerosis that was getting worse. My doctor was strongly encouraging me to get bariatric surgery. My friend Taylor kept posting about how great she felt following the Own Your Eating program. She encouraged me to attend a seminar.

How much weight have you lost?
I’ve lost 100 pounds!

What other changes have you noticed?

My entire life has changed. People in public even treat me differently. I went from a size 28 to a 12! I love getting to buy clothes on the non plus sized side of the women’s section in the store.  I have started to swim daily and even run again! I could barely walk and now I am running!!! I have two small boys that I can play outside with now. I used to have to be in bed pretty much all day but now I have the energy to do almost anything. My thyroid had developed a goiter and was hyperactive. It is now in a normal range and the growth is shrunk to almost nothing. I was having severe MS symptoms that have all but disappeared. I used to lay in bed and long to play outside with my kids. Now I can! I am up every morning before they are and excited to face a new day.

What has been your biggest obstacle that you have overcome or are working on?

The biggest obstacle I overcame was junk food.  I ate way too much because it was convenient. I had to tell myself in the store quite often, “I want to be healthy more”, and I would choose to buy foods that better fit my macros. Now it isn’t really even a temptation because I know if I want a treat I can have it. I just have to plan for it. The mental change was the biggest obstacle. Looking at food as fuel. My entire mindset changed. Foods aren’t “bad” anymore. It’s just food. No reasons to beat myself up if I choose to eat ice cream that day.

What’s the one thing you previously would have deprived yourself of on a diet that you now get to enjoy guilt-free?
Pizza!

What’s one piece of advice you would give someone that is just getting started?
Don’t be afraid to try it. It really works. You will get to enjoy the foods you love and still be on the journey to a healthy weight! It isn’t a diet but a lifestyle.
