The Lifting Flutist – Transformation

The Lifting Flutist – Transformation

In episode 43 of the Own Your Eating Podcast, Jason caught up with one of our clients, Sarah. Her self-proclaimed nickname “The Lifting Flutist” honors her life’s passions of lifting and playing the flute – she’s actually a professional concert flutist! Sarah is also a single mom, in the military and is here to share her transformation story and let you know that YOU CAN DO IT!

When did you start Flexible Eating & how did you get started?

I started flexible 3 months ago with the premium lifestyle package. I met Jason when I was getting me CFL-2. I started checking out OYE and I realized that it was something I needed. Accountability, honesty, and no judgement.

What prompted you to get started?

I was tired of yo-yoing. I needed to get my life on track. I was incredibly depressed. Had low motivation and I was just getting bigger. I gained 20 lbs over the last two years and it was consuming me.

How much weight (inches) have you lost / gained ?

I’ve lost an average of 10 lbs. I’m constantly fluctuating 3-5 lbs.

What other changes have you noticed in your body or in general?

I’m destroying the gym. PRs everywhere. I just did Nancy in 11:36 and a 7:36 2k row. I’ve leaned out tremendously. It’s shocking for me to really see myself now. I’ve also had a change in mindset. I’m realizing that my purpose is to help people. Whether it’s through music, coaching, training, or mentorship. I’m in this life to have an impact. I’m excited now to see where it takes me.

What has been your biggest obstacle that you have overcome or are working on?

My own mind. I used to convince myself that just staying mediocre was enough. Now I’m discovering a new sense of self. My determination is through the roof at this point. I want to do big things. I’m on my way.

What’s the one thing you previously would have deprived yourself of on a diet that you now get to enjoy guilt-free?

Nothing. I constantly ate like an asshole. I didn’t really care, and my careless attitude was exhibiting itself in other aspects of my life. It’s astonishing the power of words and thoughts. You have to take each negative thought or phrase and push in something positive. It feels weird at first, but just like eating, it becomes a habit and you begin to see change.

What’s one piece of advice you would give someone that is just getting started?

Give yourself a break. Realize that the journey is long and treacherous. It’s not just about eating. It’s about the person you become once you OWN it. More confident, stronger, knowledgeable, and happy. At the end of the day you owe it to yourself to live as strongly as you can. Give this lifetime everything you have. It starts right inside you. I’m proof of that. One day at a time. YOU. CAN.
