I’ve owned three CrossFit affiliates and a yoga studio, so I understand the importance of showing up to a gym and being part of a community. But being an adult (kind of) I also understand life gets in the way. Work, family, dogs, all things that distract us and sometimes prevent us from actually showing up to classes. So having a gym at home is a great solution to that problem (or excuse)!
Even with the freedom the Own Your Eating lifestyle brings, sometimes, when you’re standing in front of the fridge with the door wide open at 10 o’ clock at night trying to find something to hit those last 20g of protein, it can be hard to remember why tracking your macros is worth the extra energy.
The chances are that at some point in your life, you’ve tried to cut out carbs. Carbs have gotten this evil reputation and for some reason when we think of losing weight, we associate that with eating less carbohydrates. But just like you tried to ignore your younger sibling at high school, giving carbs the shake is nearly impossible!
Sometimes in life you can feel like you’re just chugging along. The expression “same sh*t different day” springs to mind! It’s easy to feel the same way with your nutrition when your weight loss graph stops resembling a ski-slope and looks more like a cross-country course. Don’t forget, this is a marathon though and not a sprint! So it’s important you’re able to recognize shifts in your mindset and take appropriate action. Can you reframe and find another perspective? Can you find a reason to be cheerful?
Whether you’re new to the concept of macros or have been a flexible dieter for quite some time, we still often get the question “should I be eating ‘clean’?”
Many of you might still be skeptical, wondering “how can donuts help me lose weight? That’s impossible!”
This is the question we get asked most often, we get it, our plan seems too good to be true. But, it’s not. Yes, yes, yes, you can eat anything you want, but you can’t eat everything you want. In short that means moderation. Want to enjoy some pizza? Do it! Just keep in mind you might not be able to eat an entire pizza – unless of course it fits your macros!
“Be a real man”
Our stay with Justin and Ashley was so valuable I actually got two major life lessons, Ashley’s of course from the previous post but also from her husband Justin.
“Attack the Day”
Let me begin this lesson with the understanding that Ashley is a complete lunatic, out of her mind. I of couse say this somewhat
“Live, laugh, love.”
I don’t remember the last time I laughed as hard as we did with Ellie and Jack. We had just taken the picture you see above
